In Enkhuizen, just about 16 kilometers from your cottage (20 minutes by car or 1 hour by bike), is the Zuiderzeemuseum. Steam train Hoorn Medemblik.
Pay a visit to the Museum Steam tram and step on board on an old-fashioned steamer with a fantastic saloon-deck for one of the most thrilling journeys through time! Between the historic ‘Zuiderzee’ towns of Hoorn , Medemblik and Enkhuizen the steamtram meanders from village to village across the Westfrisian countryside. Watersports
At walking distance from your you’ll find the Markermeer. Next to the numerous amounts of beautiful birds, the Markermeer is famous for it’s shallow waters near the coastline which makes it a popular (kite)surfingspot and an ideal place for other watersports like canoeing. Hiking and Cycling
Are you fond of hiking or do you prefer cycling? There are numerous trails for both walking and cycling in West-Friesland (2 – 40 km). Enjoy the environmental beauty of water, meadows and picturesque villages. Fairytale Wonderland
A true magical experience for the little ones! Themepark Fairytale Wonderland (Enkhuizen), offers a fairytale village where gnomes and fairies read out fairytales and sing songs. Minigolf
At only a 5 minutes’ walk from your cottage you’ll find Minigolf and Surf rental The Midget. A lovely place to sit and drink coffee and refreshments or have your lunch or small diner. There’s a small playground for children and of course you must play at least one round of Minigolf. www.demidget.nl
Hoorn, a city you must feel!
Every year many thousands of people enjoy the beautiful city of Hoorn. You really need to see, hear, taste and feel Hoorn! Everywhere you go you will encounter the history of the powerful Dutch East India Company, that sent beautiful ships to trade with Asiatic countries during the 17th and 18th centuries. The history of the town is not just on show in the old centre; it can also be seen in the harbour. Time seems to be standing still here. The sails are hoisted, the decks scrubbed and you can almost still smell the spices that the Dutch East India Company brought back from trips to the Far East.
